About Us

Fields & Ivy is a Craft Beer Brewery and Restaurant in Lawrence, Kansas, with distribution across Kansas and the Kansas City metro area.

Fields & Ivy Brewing
Est. 2019

Fields & Ivy is located at 706 E 23rd Street, in Lawrence, Kansas. Located a few blocks from the historical Breezedale neighborhood, a few miles south of the Kaw River with a few Open Pastures in between, Fields & Ivy Brewing Company started with a humble dream to create a gathering space for the Lawrence community.

It took a few years of hard work renovating the former Lawrence Lumber Yard space and building out a custom system for our brewers to brew on, but the hard work paid off.

Today, our 20 barrel brewhouse pumps out some of the finest beers in the Midwest and our kitchen creates the perfect elevated pub fare to complement the beers. With a commitment to using as many local ingredients as possible, we are constantly refining our recipes and processes to create flavorful, accessible and innovative beers, cocktails, and dishes.

Our taproom and restaurant serves up made-from-scratch pizzas, appetizers, sandwiches, burgers and garden-fresh salads as memorable as the beer. And on a beautiful Kansas day, it’s hard to beat our outdoor beer garden.

Come visit us today at our location along the 23rd Street corridor, a few blocks east of Massachusetts Street. And when you can’t visit us in person, you can find our beers on tap or in a liquor store near you, with distribution all over the state of Kansas and throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area on both sides of the State Line.

Our Team

We’re proud of the fantastic staff we have at Fields & Ivy. Here are some of the key players that help make your time with us so enjoyable.

Kyle Hopkins

Kyle Hopkins

CEO

Kyle Hopkins has spent the last 15 years in the beer industry working in different roles that have allowed him to understand the trends and patterns that govern the industry.

He is a Certified Cicerone and was a driving force behind the opening of the Boulevard Beer Hall in 2015 before he joined the marketing department there. He worked in beer sales as the MO/KS Market Manager for Surly Brewing Company, a position that enabled him to create solid relationships with all of the key beer buyers at liquor stores and bars in the Lawrence and Kansas City markets.

In addition to beer, Kyle also brings vast culinary knowledge to the table as someone who created the food menu for Boulevard and also spent the summer of 2023 representing the Midwest in Season 13 of Gordon Ramsey’s MasterChef.

Kyle has been with the company since June 2024.

Dan Chivetta

Dan Chivetta

Brewmaster & COO

Dan Chivetta is the Brewmaster of Fields and Ivy Brewing Company and his recipes and expertise are the heart and soul of the company.

A Saint Louis native, Dan attended the Siebel Institute in Chicago completing a degree that dove deep into the science of brewing and fermentation while it allowed him to travel through Europe learning about the past and future of brewing. Dan worked for Boulevard Brewing Company for over a decade, helping guide the direction of the brewing program at one of the largest breweries in the country.

He simultaneously was able to form relationships with industry partners like hop growers and packaging specialists that helped him select the equipment and processes that he believes work best for the brewery.

Dan is employee #1 and he has been with the company since December of 2018.

Sarah McGaughey

Sarah McGaughey

General Manager

Sarah McGaughey brings decades of industry experience to the Fields and Ivy Brewery restaurant.

Proudly born and raised in Kansas she has spent most of her career in the Topeka and Lawrence areas. She helped open and manage The Wheel Barrel bar in Topeka where she founded a successful whiskey club and created popular cocktail menus. She then moved to Happy Basset Brewing Co. where she acted both as event coordinator and general manager for their two locations, a title that included the responsibility of creating training programs for the new staff and managing a robust events schedule.

With her knowledge and experience she has guided Fields and Ivy and her fingerprint is all over the food menu, the cocktail program and the events. She began her career at Olive Garden – one of the reasons there will never be unlimited breadsticks on the menu at Fields.

She has been with the company since April of 2022.
